Gut Microbe a key player of curing Malnutrition

Bacteria living in the gut are essential for young animals’ growth.
If children is suffering from malnutrition then right amount of gut bacteria might be missing. Symbiotic bacteria present in kid’s gut play an important role in growth and development. It is not new but striking evidence again got published and recently in Science.

It is not always true that kids having good foods are always just perfect for growth but gut microbes might be important tool for kids suffering from poor diets. Statistics suggest that malnutrition contributes deaths over million children worldwide each year. Even children who get good balanced food also seem to be suffering from malnutrition.

In recent years scientists have been wondering to find several hints that microbes might be a key player to treat this condition. But no one actually knew if microbes actually does that, and if so then which strains would help.

The recent report in Science by biologist Dr. François Leulier discovered the helpful microbe called Lactobacillus plantarum strain WJL. Researcher and his colleagues fed two infact mice with and without gut bacteria with low protein diet, and observed their development. The result was stunning to provide evidence that mice with microbes were bigger in accordance to size of bone, organs and bodily growth. Even scientist found evidence that gut microbes allowed mice green light for the production of growth hormone called IGF-1.
